About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Farm Mechanic and Maintenance Technician to join their agricultural team near Reading . In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of farm machinery, vehicles, and equipment. Ensuring that all machinery is in optimal working condition is crucial for the smooth operation of the farm, from planting to harvesting. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with agricultural equipment, and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance. This is an essential role supporting the productivity and efficiency of the farming operations in Berkshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on tractors, harvesters, plows, and other agricultural machinery.
• Service and repair farm vehicles, including trucks and utility vehicles.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues with farm equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance checks to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop, and manage spare parts inventory.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and best practices.
• Assist with general farm tasks as needed during busy periods.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, with a focus on heavy machinery or agricultural equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and power transmission.
• Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of farm machinery.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
• Valid driver's license and a willingness to perform on-site repairs.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
