About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Farm Operations Supervisor to join their established agricultural business based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to the efficient day-to-day running of the farm, focusing on coordinating activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and supervising a team of agricultural workers. You will play a key part in the successful execution of farming tasks and contribute to the overall productivity and smooth operation of the estate. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of farm work and a knack for organization and team management, working within a company that values dedication and hard work.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of farm staff, assigning tasks and ensuring their completion.
- Monitor farm operations to ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Assist in the planning and execution of planting, cultivation, and harvesting schedules.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of farm equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
- Ensure the welfare of livestock and the proper management of animal housing and feeding systems.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including labor hours, equipment usage, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within agriculture.
- Good understanding of general farming practices, including crop and/or livestock management.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in an agricultural setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- A practical, hands-on approach to farm work.
