Farm Operations Supervisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable and organized Farm Operations Supervisor to manage the day-to-day activities of their agricultural operations based in Sunderland . You will be responsible for overseeing field work, coordinating with farmhands, ensuring the proper use of equipment, and maintaining high standards of crop cultivation and livestock care. This is a vital role for maintaining productivity and efficiency on the farm, contributing to the successful output of high-quality agricultural products within the Tyne and Wear region. The ideal candidate will have a practical understanding of farming and strong leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the work of farm laborers, assigning tasks and ensuring completion.
• Oversee planting, cultivation, harvesting, and general farm maintenance activities.
• Ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of farm machinery and equipment.
• Monitor crop health and implement necessary treatments for pests and diseases.
• Manage livestock feeding, health checks, and general care as applicable to the farm's focus.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, seeds, fertilizers, and feed, and assist with procurement.

Requirements

• Previous experience in farm operations or agricultural supervision.
• Solid understanding of crop management principles and agricultural machinery.
• Ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of farm workers.
• Good knowledge of health and safety regulations within an agricultural setting.
• Basic record-keeping skills for tracking production and inventory.
