Farm Worker - Livestock Specialist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Farm Worker with a specialization in livestock care to join their expanding operation near Sunderland . This role is hands-on and requires a genuine passion for animal welfare and efficient husbandry. You will be responsible for the daily care, feeding, and health monitoring of a variety of livestock, ensuring they are kept in optimal conditions. The ideal candidate will be reliable, physically fit, and possess a keen eye for detail when observing animal health and behaviour. Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily feeding, watering, and general care for livestock, including cattle, sheep, and poultry.
• Monitor animal health and behaviour, promptly identifying and reporting any signs of illness or distress.
• Administer basic veterinary treatments and assist the veterinarian during procedures.
• Maintain clean and sanitary housing conditions for all livestock, adhering to strict hygiene protocols.
• Assist with breeding programs, including artificial insemination if required and qualified.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment used in livestock management.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with livestock on a farm or in a similar animal care setting.
• A strong understanding of animal husbandry, nutrition, and health management.
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding manual tasks in various weather conditions.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Basic knowledge of farm machinery operation and maintenance.
