Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead their finance operations in Oxford . This hybrid role requires a strategic thinker who can oversee all accounting functions, ensure financial compliance, and contribute to the company's financial planning and analysis. You will manage a team of accounting professionals, drive process improvements, and provide critical financial insights to senior management, all within a flexible work arrangement that combines office and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Develop and manage budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards (e.g., UK GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and efficiency.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
• Support external audits and manage relationships with auditors.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with financial software systems and advanced Excel proficiency.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
