About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Financial Controller to oversee financial operations in Portsmouth, Hampshire . This role is office-based, fostering strong team collaboration and direct engagement with financial activities. You will be responsible for managing accounting functions, financial reporting, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This is a key leadership position within the banking and finance department, offering the chance to significantly influence financial strategy and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional growth and efficiency.

Requirements

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with a strong academic background.
Proven experience (5+ years) as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant in a relevant industry.
In-depth knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, and management accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, comfortable working in an office environment in Portsmouth .
