About the Role
Our client seeks a meticulous and experienced Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of their organisation based in Manchester . This senior role is responsible for managing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial leadership. You will be instrumental in enhancing financial systems, processes, and controls to support sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial principles and a proven track record in financial management within the banking and finance industry, contributing to the company's fiscal health and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and board presentations.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to set financial targets.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax filings and audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is essential.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional leadership, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in the financial services sector is highly advantageous.
