Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to oversee their financial operations in Stoke-on-Trent . This senior position is responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. You will be a key advisor to senior leadership, driving financial strategy and supporting business growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of financial management, operating within a dynamic team in Stoke-on-Trent , with the flexibility of a hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior accounting management role.
• Expertise in financial reporting, accounting standards, and corporate finance.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, based in our Stoke-on-Trent office.
