About the Role
Our client seeks a seasoned and strategic Financial Controller to lead their financial operations from their Portsmouth office. This critical role will oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, provide strategic financial insights to senior management, and drive process improvements. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of financial management, and a commitment to maintaining robust financial governance within the company. This is a key leadership position based in our Portsmouth headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
- Develop and manage the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial compliance.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a strong academic background.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a controller or similar senior role.
- Extensive knowledge of financial reporting standards, corporate finance, and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, essential for managing a team in Portsmouth .
