About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead their finance department in Edinburgh . This senior role will oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and treasury functions. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, implementing robust internal controls, and providing critical financial leadership to support the company's strategic objectives within the banking sector . This is a key position offering significant responsibility and the opportunity to influence financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/UK GAAP.
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads.
- Develop and implement effective internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
- Manage banking relationships and cash flow, ensuring optimal liquidity.
- Lead and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Significant experience in a financial control or senior accounting role, preferably within financial services.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
