Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent and experienced Financial Controller to oversee their financial operations in Wolverhampton . This senior position is responsible for managing the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial planning. You will play a critical role in managing financial risk, optimizing financial processes, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements within the banking and finance sector . Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Prepare and publish timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, UK GAAP) and relevant financial regulations.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a strong academic background.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in a senior accounting or financial control role, preferably within financial services.
• Proven expertise in financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Deep understanding of accounting principles, corporate finance, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
