About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead their finance function in Portsmouth . This key hybrid role will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, management accounting, and internal controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance within the banking and finance sector. You will be responsible for providing critical financial insights to drive business performance and strategic planning. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or UK GAAP).
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads.
- Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Manage the audit process with external auditors.
- Analyze financial data and provide management with timely and accurate reports on financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and statutory requirements.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Significant experience (5+ years) in a financial control or senior accounting role, preferably within the financial services or banking industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Experience in managing teams and implementing process improvements.
