About the Role
Our client is looking for a meticulous and experienced Financial Controller to oversee their financial operations and reporting in Leeds . This senior role is responsible for managing all accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and supporting strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis. You will lead a dedicated accounting team, implement financial controls, and ensure compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of corporate finance, excellent leadership qualities, and a commitment to driving financial efficiency and accuracy within a growing organization in the financial services sector .
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial reporting accuracy.
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing variance analysis and actionable insights.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely and successful completion of annual audits.
- Implement and improve financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a strong academic background in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and relevant financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, financial planning, and analysis.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
