Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to lead their finance department in Wolverhampton . This senior role is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. You will play a critical role in driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and optimising financial performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a comprehensive understanding of financial management within the banking and finance industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and direct all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
• Develop and manage the annual budget process, including financial forecasting and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and company policies.
• Provide financial insights and strategic guidance to senior management to support decision-making.
• Oversee internal controls and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a proven track record.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management roles.
• In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, UK GAAP) and corporate finance principles.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with financial software and ERP systems is essential.
