FMCG Category Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and data-driven FMCG Category Manager to drive category growth and profitability for their key retail partners in the Southampton area. This role requires a deep understanding of consumer behaviour, market trends, and the competitive landscape to develop winning category strategies. You will work closely with retail buyers, sales teams, and insights departments to maximise product placement, promotional effectiveness, and overall category performance. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical marketer to influence commercial strategy at a senior level within a leading FMCG organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies that drive sales volume, market share, and profitability for assigned categories within Southampton retailers.
• Analyze category performance, consumer data, and market trends to identify opportunities and threats.
• Collaborate with sales teams to develop compelling proposals and presentations for retail partners.
• Manage product assortment, pricing, and promotional plans to optimise category performance.
• Work with supply chain and operations to ensure product availability and efficient inventory management.
• Build strong relationships with key retail buyers and stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Category Manager or in a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry.
• Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of retail data and market insights.
• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective category growth strategies.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in category management software and MS Office Suite.
• A degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is required.
