About the Role
Our client is seeking a creative and technically skilled FMCG Product Development Scientist to join their innovative R&D team in Oxford . This role involves the conceptualisation, development, and optimisation of new and existing FMCG products, ensuring they meet consumer needs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. You will be involved in all stages of the product lifecycle, from initial ideation and formulation to pilot testing and scale-up support. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate scientist to contribute to the creation of cutting-edge consumer products within a leading FMCG company, working in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development activities to create innovative new FMCG products and improve existing formulations.
- Develop product prototypes and conduct sensory evaluations, stability testing, and shelf-life studies.
- Translate consumer insights and market trends into viable product concepts and specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, procurement, and manufacturing, to ensure successful product launches.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges during product development and scale-up processes in the Oxford facility.
- Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience in product development , ideally within the FMCG or food and beverage industry.
- Strong understanding of formulation science, ingredient functionality, and processing techniques.
- Excellent laboratory skills, including experimental design and data analysis.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities, with a creative and problem-solving mindset.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for FMCG products in the UK .
