Forestry GIS Analyst

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Forestry GIS Analyst to join their dedicated team in Edinburgh . In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing spatial data related to forest resources, supporting sustainable land management and operational planning. You will work closely with foresters and land managers to create maps, conduct spatial analysis, and develop data-driven solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our forestry operations and conservation efforts, contributing to the responsible stewardship of Scotland's valuable forest assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and manage spatial databases for forestry assets and operations.
• Create detailed maps and reports using GIS software for various applications, including forest inventory, harvesting plans, and environmental impact assessments.
• Conduct spatial analysis to identify trends, optimize resource allocation, and support strategic decision-making.
• Integrate data from various sources, including remote sensing, GPS surveys, and field data collection.
• Provide GIS support and training to forestry staff and stakeholders as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field with a strong GIS focus.
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS, including advanced spatial analysis techniques.
• Experience working with forestry data, including forest inventory, mensuration, and management data.
• Knowledge of remote sensing and GPS technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
