About the Role
Our client is looking for a seasoned Forestry Operations Manager to oversee sustainable forest management activities in the Sunderland region. This hands-on role requires strong leadership and a deep understanding of forestry practices, from planting and harvesting to conservation and regulatory compliance. You will lead a dedicated team, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibility. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and manage all aspects of forest operations, including timber harvesting, reforestation, and silviculture.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Supervise and lead a team of foresters, equipment operators, and field staff, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, resource allocation, and equipment maintenance.
- Monitor forest health, identify potential threats (e.g., pests, diseases, fire), and implement mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, landowners, and community groups.
Requirements
- Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Significant experience in forest management and operations, with a proven track record of leadership.
- Comprehensive knowledge of sustainable forestry principles, silviculture, and ecological management.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within the forestry sector.
