Forestry Operations Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Forestry Operations Manager to oversee and optimize their forestry operations in and around Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and sustainable harvesting, regeneration, and management of forest resources. You will be responsible for leading a team of foresters and operational staff, managing complex projects from planning to completion, and ensuring all activities comply with environmental regulations and company policies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic operational plans for timber harvesting, reforestation, and forest maintenance.
• Manage all aspects of day-to-day forestry operations, including resource allocation, scheduling, and logistical coordination.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards across all operational sites.
• Monitor operational performance, analyse data, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Manage budgets, control costs, and ensure financial targets for forestry operations are met.

Requirements

• A degree in Forestry, Forest Management, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in managing large-scale forestry operations, with a strong understanding of sustainable forestry practices.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
• In-depth knowledge of timber harvesting techniques, forest inventory, and silviculture.
• Familiarity with relevant environmental legislation and best practices in the UK.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
