Forestry Operations Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organized and results-oriented Forestry Operations Manager to oversee their extensive woodland estates based out of Leeds . You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all forestry operations, including harvesting, planting, restocking, and conservation activities. This critical role requires a blend of practical forestry knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and a keen eye for efficiency and sustainability, ensuring the productive and responsible management of significant timber resources and biodiversity within the estate.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and supervise all forestry operations, including timber harvesting, felling, and extraction.
• Develop and manage annual operational plans and budgets for woodland management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and environmental best practices.
• Manage and motivate a team of foresters, forest workers, and contractors, overseeing their performance and development.
• Monitor forest health, implement pest and disease control measures, and manage conservation initiatives.

Requirements

• A degree or HND in Forestry, Arboriculture, or a related land management discipline.
• Significant experience (e.g., 5+ years) in practical forestry operations and management.
• Strong understanding of forest mensuration, silviculture, and sustainable forest management principles.
• Proven ability to manage teams, contractors, and budgets effectively.
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation within the forestry sector in the UK .
