Forestry Operations Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Forestry Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of forest management and timber harvesting operations in and around Manchester . This critical role involves ensuring the sustainable management of forest resources, optimizing operational efficiency, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance within the agriculture and forestry sector . You will lead a dedicated team, manage budgets, and implement strategic plans to achieve the company's long-term objectives for forest health and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive forest management plans, including reforestation, silviculture, and harvest planning.
• Supervise day-to-day field operations, including timber harvesting, site preparation, and infrastructure maintenance.
• Ensure strict adherence to all environmental regulations, sustainability standards, and health and safety protocols.
• Manage operational budgets, track expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of forestry technicians, supervisors, and contractors, fostering a culture of safety and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forestry, Forest Management, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in forest management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• In-depth knowledge of forestry principles, sustainable harvesting techniques, and ecological management practices.
• Proven ability to manage complex operations, budgets, and logistics within the forestry sector .
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement.
