About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced and safety-conscious Forestry Operations Supervisor to oversee timber harvesting, forest management, and planting activities in woodland areas near Nottingham . This role requires strong leadership skills to manage a team of forest workers, ensure adherence to health and safety protocols, and maintain efficient operational workflows. You will be responsible for the planning and execution of forestry operations, ensuring they are conducted sustainably and in line with management plans. This is a hands-on, site-based role critical to the effective management of forest resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of forestry crews, including felling, extraction, planting, and maintenance operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations and company policies on site.
- Plan and schedule work activities, allocating resources efficiently to meet operational targets.
- Monitor the quality of work performed, ensuring it meets industry standards and management plan requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, resources used, and any incidents that occur.
Requirements
- Proven experience in forestry operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or team leader role.
- Strong understanding of timber harvesting techniques, forest management practices, and woodland ecology.
- Certification or qualification in forestry operations (e.g., NPTC certificates).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and manage teams effectively in a field environment.
