About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Forestry Surveyor to join their team, working across various forest and woodland sites in and around Nottingham . This role is crucial for assessing forest resources, planning harvesting operations, monitoring tree health, and ensuring compliance with sustainable forest management practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in surveying techniques and technology, and a solid understanding of forestry principles. You will play a key role in managing and protecting valuable forest assets, contributing to their long-term health and economic viability.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed forest inventories, including measuring tree height, diameter, species, and assessing timber volumes.
• Utilize GPS, GIS, and other surveying equipment for mapping forest boundaries, terrain, and resource distribution.
• Assess forest health, identify diseases, pests, and environmental threats, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Plan and oversee sustainable harvesting operations, ensuring efficient extraction and minimal environmental impact.
• Prepare comprehensive survey reports, maps, and management recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with relevant forestry legislation, environmental regulations, and certification standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Forestry Surveyor or in a closely related role within the forestry sector.
• Proficiency in using forestry surveying equipment, GPS, GIS software, and data analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of forest mensuration, silviculture, and sustainable forest management principles.
• Knowledge of UK forestry legislation and environmental best practices.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• A degree in Forestry, Surveying, Geography, or a related discipline is essential.
