Forestry Worker

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and physically robust Forestry Worker to join their team managing woodlands near Norwich . This role involves a variety of practical tasks essential for the health, maintenance, and sustainable management of forest resources. You will be involved in tree planting, felling, pruning, site clearing, and ensuring the overall safety and ecological balance of the forest environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors, a strong work ethic, and a good understanding of forestry practices and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

• Planting trees and saplings according to established forestry plans and techniques.
• Assisting with the felling and processing of trees, including limbing and bucking.
• Carrying out thinning and pruning operations to improve forest health and timber quality.
• Clearing sites of debris, undergrowth, and fallen logs.
• Operating and maintaining forestry machinery and equipment, such as chainsaws, chippers, and mowers.
• Assisting with the construction and maintenance of forest access roads and tracks.
• Monitoring forest health, identifying pests, diseases, and potential hazards.
• Adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations and procedures in a potentially hazardous environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience in forestry, arboriculture, or a related outdoor manual labor role.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power equipment common in forestry, including chainsaws.
• Good physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• A strong understanding of forestry best practices and health and safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A willingness to undertake further training as required.
