Formulation Scientist - Drug Development

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking pharmaceutical company dedicated to developing innovative medicines, is seeking a talented and experienced Formulation Scientist to join their research and development team based in Norwich . You will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing pharmaceutical formulations to ensure the effective delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the early stages of drug development, working in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment and collaborating with a team of dedicated scientists.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize novel pharmaceutical formulations for various routes of administration (e.g., oral, parenteral, topical).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including characterization of APIs and excipients, to understand physical and chemical properties.
• Perform formulation development experiments, stability testing, and optimize manufacturing processes for scale-up.
• Characterize formulated products using various analytical techniques to assess quality, performance, and bioavailability.
• Collaborate with analytical development, process development, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless transfer of formulations to larger-scale production.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development .
• Strong knowledge of drug delivery systems, excipient selection, and dosage form design.
• Proficiency in a range of analytical and characterization techniques relevant to pharmaceutical formulation (e.g., HPLC, DSC, dissolution testing).
• Excellent scientific problem-solving abilities and a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements for drug product development.
