Senior Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Formulation Scientist to join their dynamic R&D department in Norwich . This role is integral to the development of innovative drug delivery systems and formulations for new pharmaceutical products. You will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and characterizing various dosage forms, working closely with pre-formulation, analytical, and manufacturing teams. This position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the drug development lifecycle, from early-stage research to clinical trial material production, within a supportive and innovative scientific setting in Norfolk .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel drug formulations (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topicals) to meet product requirements and enhance bioavailability.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and excipient compatibility assessments.
• Optimize formulation processes and parameters to ensure robustness, scalability, and manufacturability.
• Characterize formulated products using appropriate analytical techniques to assess physical and chemical properties.
• Collaborate with analytical development teams to establish relevant release and stability methods.
• Prepare technical reports, contribute to regulatory filings, and present findings to internal stakeholders.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the overall scientific strategy of the formulation group.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Proven expertise in developing various dosage forms, with a strong understanding of drug delivery principles.
• Hands-on experience with formulation equipment and analytical techniques (e.g., particle size analysis, dissolution testing, DSC).
• Familiarity with GMP requirements and regulatory guidelines relevant to drug product development.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong project management skills, and effective communication.
