Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Formulation Scientist to join their Research and Development department in Bradford . This role is central to the development of new pharmaceutical products, focusing on creating stable, effective, and manufacturable drug formulations. You will work on designing and optimizing formulations for various dosage forms, conducting extensive laboratory experiments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new therapies from concept to commercialization. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize novel drug formulations for oral, topical, or injectable dosage forms.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and compatibility assessments.
• Perform formulation development experiments using laboratory equipment and techniques such as granulation, blending, coating, and encapsulation.
• Characterize formulations and intermediates using analytical methods (e.g., particle size analysis, dissolution testing).
• Scale-up formulation processes from laboratory to pilot plant and support technology transfer to manufacturing.
• Document experimental procedures, results, and conclusions comprehensively in research reports and laboratory notebooks.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Hands-on experience with various dosage forms and formulation technologies.
• Strong understanding of physical chemistry, polymer science, and drug delivery principles.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and analytical methods relevant to formulation development.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to research challenges.
