About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled and innovative Formulation Scientist to join their Research & Development department in Glasgow . This role is central to the development of novel pharmaceutical dosage forms, focusing on creating stable, effective, and patient-friendly drug delivery systems. You will be involved in all stages of formulation development, from pre-formulation studies to process development and scale-up, working with a variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients. This hands-on laboratory role offers an exciting challenge for a scientist passionate about translating scientific discoveries into tangible medicinal products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative pharmaceutical formulations (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables, topical).
- Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize APIs and identify suitable excipients.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for selected formulations, ensuring scalability and robustness.
- Perform stability studies and analytical testing to evaluate formulation performance and shelf-life.
- Collaborate with analytical development, manufacturing, and regulatory teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot formulation and process-related issues and implement effective solutions.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development .
- Proven expertise in various dosage forms and drug delivery technologies.
- Hands-on experience with formulation development equipment and analytical techniques (e.g., DSC, TGA, dissolution testing).
- Strong understanding of physical chemistry, materials science, and pharmaceutical manufacturing principles.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to formulation challenges.
