Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client seeks an innovative Formulation Scientist to join their dynamic research and development team in Glasgow . This role is central to the development of new drug delivery systems and formulations that enhance therapeutic efficacy and patient compliance. You will be involved in all stages of formulation development, from conceptualization and pre-formulation studies to scale-up and technology transfer. Working in a hybrid model, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with both lab-based teams and remote colleagues, contributing to the pipeline of novel pharmaceutical products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize pharmaceutical formulations for various dosage forms (e.g., oral, injectable, topical).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize drug substances and excipients.
• Perform stability studies to evaluate the shelf-life and performance of developed formulations.
• Scale up laboratory formulations to pilot and commercial manufacturing processes, ensuring process robustness.
• Collaborate with analytical development teams to establish appropriate testing methods for formulated products.
• Prepare technical documentation, including formulation development reports and regulatory submission sections.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Proven experience with various dosage forms and formulation techniques.
• Knowledge of drug delivery systems, excipient science, and physical chemistry.
• Familiarity with GMP requirements and regulatory guidelines for pharmaceutical development.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data in the context of formulation performance.
