Job Description

About the Role

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Freight Forwarder to manage the movement of goods internationally and domestically from their Plymouth office. This role involves coordinating shipments with carriers, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations. You will be essential in providing efficient and cost-effective solutions for clients, navigating the complexities of global logistics. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen understanding of shipping processes and strong communication skills to excel in a challenging and rewarding field within the logistics industry.

Key Responsibilities

Arrange and coordinate international and domestic freight shipments via various transport modes (air, sea, road, rail).
Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and import/export permits.
Liaise with clients, carriers, customs brokers, and other third parties to ensure smooth transit of goods.
Track shipments, provide updates to clients, and resolve any issues or delays that may arise during transit.
Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws, customs regulations, and international trade agreements.
Manage quotes and negotiate rates with shipping lines and airlines to secure competitive pricing.

Requirements

Previous experience in freight forwarding , international logistics, or a similar role.
Knowledge of customs procedures, international trade regulations, and shipping documentation.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using freight forwarding software and standard office applications.
Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines effectively.
