Job Title: Functional Skills Maths and Numeracy Tutor Location: Wrexham Hours: 5-15 hours per week Start Date: October 2026 Duration: Ongoing

About the Role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a motivated Functional Skills Maths Tutor to help learners improve their numeracy, develop practical mathematical skills and work towards recognised qualifications.

The role involves delivering individualised tuition at an appropriate level, building learner confidence and making Maths accessible through clear explanations and practical examples.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver one-to-one Functional Skills Maths tuition Support learners with arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages and measurements Develop practical problem-solving and numeracy skills Prepare learners for Functional Skills assessments Monitor progress and adapt sessions to individual learning needs

Experience, Training and Qualifications Relevant teaching qualification or QTS/PGCE desirable Strong Maths subject knowledge Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills or equivalent numeracy Ability to explain challenging concepts in an accessible way Patient, organised and encouraging approach

Essential Requirements Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain the required clearance Two professional references
