About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and analytical Game Designer (Systems) to join their talented team in Leeds . This role focuses on designing, implementing, and iterating on the core gameplay systems that drive player experience. You will work closely with engineers and artists to craft engaging mechanics, progression systems, and economic models. The ideal candidate has a passion for player-centric design, a strong understanding of game balance, and the ability to translate complex ideas into fun and intuitive gameplay loops, contributing to the creation of compelling and long-lasting interactive worlds.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and document core gameplay mechanics, progression systems, and combat balancing for new game titles .
• Collaborate with programmers to implement and iterate on game systems, ensuring they are fun, engaging, and performant.
• Balance game economies, player progression, and difficulty curves to optimize player engagement and retention.
• Create detailed design documents, flowcharts, and prototypes to communicate design ideas.
• Analyze player feedback and game data to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven design decisions.
• Work closely with narrative and level designers to ensure systems support the overall game vision.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Game Designer , with a focus on systems design.
• Strong understanding of player psychology and game design principles.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Lua, Python) or visual scripting tools is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting and presenting designs.
• Experience with major game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
