About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geological Engineer to join their dynamic mining operations team based in Aberdeen, Scotland, UK . This critical role involves applying geological principles to the exploration, planning, and operational phases of mining projects. You will work closely with geologists, mining engineers, and site managers to ensure efficient resource extraction, safety, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of rock mechanics, geostatistics, and deposit modeling, contributing directly to the success and sustainability of our mining endeavors in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geological surveys and analysis to identify and evaluate mineral deposits.
- Develop and implement mine planning and design strategies, integrating geological data.
- Oversee drilling programs, sample collection, and laboratory analysis for resource estimation.
- Monitor ground stability and implement measures to mitigate geological risks and ensure workplace safety .
- Collaborate with operations teams to optimize extraction processes and maximize resource recovery.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, maps, and presentations for stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in geological engineering within the mining industry .
- Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Surpac).
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics , geostatistics, and resource estimation techniques.
- Experience with GIS software and data management systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
