Geological Technician - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Geological Technician to support their exploration activities in the Cambridge area. This hands-on role involves assisting geologists in the field and office with sample collection, logging, data management, and preliminary analysis. You will play a crucial part in gathering the essential data that drives exploration success and helps identify new mineral resources. Key Responsibilities

• Assist geologists with field sampling programs, including rock chip, soil, and stream sediment sampling.
• Perform detailed core logging and description of drill core samples.
• Prepare and tag geological samples for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain accurate field and core logs, and manage sample databases.
• Conduct preliminary geological mapping and data compilation.
• Assist with the preparation of geological reports and presentations.

Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a geological field assistant or technician role is advantageous.
• Familiarity with geological terminology and basic geological concepts.
• Proficiency in using basic field equipment and hand tools.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in remote field conditions when required.
