Geological Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Geological Technician to support their exploration and research activities near Cambridge , Cambridgeshire . This hands-on role involves assisting geologists with field sampling, laboratory analysis, and data compilation. You will play a crucial role in collecting and processing geological information that forms the basis for resource assessment and project planning. This is an on-site position requiring active participation in both field and laboratory work.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in geological fieldwork, including core logging, sample collection, and geological mapping.
• Perform routine laboratory analyses on rock and soil samples, such as assays and physical property testing.
• Maintain and calibrate geological laboratory equipment.
• Organize and manage geological sample collections and databases.
• Prepare preliminary geological data summaries and assist in report generation.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols in both field and laboratory environments.

Requirements

• HND or Foundation Degree in Geology, Earth Science, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in a geological support role or laboratory setting.
• Proficiency in basic geological field techniques and laboratory procedures.
• Familiarity with geological software for data entry and basic plotting.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a technical team and follow instructions precisely.
