Geological Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Geological Technician to support their exploration and operational teams in Southampton . This role involves crucial fieldwork, sample collection, and laboratory analysis, providing essential data for geological assessments and mining projects. You will work closely with geologists and engineers, contributing vital information to resource evaluation and mine planning. Key Responsibilities

• Collect geological samples (rock, soil, core) accurately and systematically from field sites.
• Perform basic field and laboratory tests, including assay preparation and geophysical logging.
• Maintain detailed records of sample locations, descriptions, and test results.
• Assist geologists in mapping, surveying, and data collection during exploration programs.
• Prepare and maintain geological equipment and laboratory supplies.
• Ensure all work is conducted safely and in accordance with established protocols.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent qualification in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related technical field.
• 1-3 years of experience in a geological support or field technician role .
• Proficiency in using basic geological tools and sampling equipment.
• Familiarity with data logging and record-keeping procedures.
• Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic understanding of geological principles and terminology.
