Geological Technician

About the Role

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Geological Technician to support their geological and exploration teams based near Portsmouth . In this role, you will assist with a variety of field and laboratory tasks, including sample collection, core logging, and basic data analysis. Your support will be invaluable in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of geological investigations and resource assessment activities. Key Responsibilities

• Assist geologists in collecting geological samples from exploration sites and mine workings.
• Perform detailed core logging, recording lithological descriptions, structural features, and mineralization.
• Prepare samples for analysis, including crushing, grinding, and bagging according to laboratory protocols.
• Conduct basic field tests and measurements as directed by senior geological staff.
• Maintain accurate and organised records of all collected samples and associated data.
• Operate and maintain basic geological and laboratory equipment in the Portsmouth facility.

Requirements

• A-Levels in relevant science subjects (e.g., Geology, Geography, Chemistry) or a relevant vocational qualification.
• Prior experience in a laboratory or fieldwork setting is advantageous, but not essential.
• Familiarity with basic geological concepts and terminology.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain accurate records.
• Good physical condition for fieldwork, potentially in varying weather conditions.
• Team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn about the mining industry in Hampshire .
