Geologist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Geologist specializing in exploration to join their team based in Cardiff . In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential oil and gas prospects through the analysis of geological data, seismic surveys, and subsurface information. You will play a crucial part in shaping the company's exploration strategy and contribute to the discovery of new reserves. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic data and well logs to identify and delineate potential hydrocarbon traps.
• Develop geological models and maps to support exploration activities and risk assessment.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to integrate diverse datasets for prospect generation.
• Conduct regional geological studies to understand basin frameworks and play fairway analysis.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and potential partners.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in exploration geology , preferably within the oil and gas sector.
• Proficiency with geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of sedimentary basins , structural geology, and stratigraphy.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and subsurface mapping techniques.
• Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences; a Master's degree is advantageous.
