Geologist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Geologist specializing in Exploration to join their team in Reading . This role is vital for identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon prospects in new and existing basins. You will analyze geological data, including seismic, well logs, and core samples, to assess subsurface potential and contribute to strategic exploration decisions. This hybrid position offers a blend of office-based collaboration and remote analytical work, supporting the ongoing success of our client in the competitive Oil & Gas industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret geological and geophysical data to identify potential exploration targets.
• Develop and refine geological models for prospective areas.
• Integrate various data types, including seismic, well logs, and core data, to assess prospectivity and risk.
• Prepare geological reports, maps, and presentations for internal review and decision-making.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and other team members on exploration projects.
• Stay abreast of the latest geological concepts, exploration technologies, and industry trends.

Requirements

• Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience in exploration geology within the Oil & Gas sector .
• Proficiency in geological software for mapping, interpretation, and modeling (e.g., Petrel, ArcGIS).
• Strong understanding of basin analysis, sequence stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities, suited for a hybrid work environment in Reading .
