Geotechnical Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role involves assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice on foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks for a range of construction projects. You will conduct site investigations, laboratory testing analysis, and develop comprehensive geotechnical reports. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the stability and safety of structures by understanding and mitigating soil-related risks, working within a dedicated team of engineering professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage site investigations, including borehole drilling, trial pitting, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine ground properties and behavior.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks based on geotechnical assessments.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports , including recommendations for construction.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies on geotechnical matters.
• Oversee the execution of geotechnical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with designs.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS or similar finite element analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience in interpreting CPT, SPT, and laboratory test results.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
