About the Role
Our client seeks a specialized Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their vibrant team in Glasgow . This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, and providing geotechnical expertise for a wide array of infrastructure and construction projects across Scotland. You will be responsible for conducting site investigations, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and developing robust design solutions that ensure the stability and safety of structures. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to work on diverse and impactful projects within a collaborative and innovative engineering consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site investigations, including desk studies, trial pits, boreholes, and in-situ testing, to assess subsurface conditions.
- Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine foundation requirements, slope stability, and earthworks design.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical design reports, specifications, and drawings for foundations, retaining walls, and other earth structures.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and contractors to provide expert geotechnical advice and solutions.
- Oversee and interpret results from specialist geotechnical surveys and testing.
- Ensure all geotechnical designs comply with relevant UK standards, Eurocodes, and best practices.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years' relevant experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy or contracting.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation design principles.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W), Plaxis, or similar.
- Experience with site investigation techniques and interpretation of ground investigation data.
- Excellent report writing skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
