About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their established team in Sunderland . This role is integral to understanding and mitigating ground-related risks for a diverse portfolio of projects, including construction, infrastructure, and land development. You will be responsible for planning and overseeing site investigations, analysing soil and rock mechanics, and developing effective foundation and ground improvement solutions. This position offers a stimulating blend of office-based analysis and occasional site visits, perfect for an engineer passionate about subsurface engineering and its critical impact on project success within the North East region.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage site investigation works, including desk studies, ground surveys, and soil sampling.
- Interpret and analyse geotechnical data, including soil test results and borehole logs.
- Design foundations, retaining walls, slope stability measures, and other geotechnical structures.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design drawings.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities regarding geotechnical matters.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards and environmental regulations.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Substantial experience in geotechnical investigation, analysis, and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software for slope stability, foundation design, and seepage analysis.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and hydrogeology.
- Excellent report writing skills and ability to communicate complex technical information.
- Willingness to undertake site visits as required, contributing to a hybrid working model.
