Geotechnical Engineer - Mining Foundations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding team in Wolverhampton, West Midlands . This role is essential for assessing ground conditions, designing stable foundations, and mitigating risks associated with mining activities. You will conduct site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, and provide expert recommendations for mine infrastructure and slope stability. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical site investigations and analyze soil and rock samples.
• Perform stability analyses for mine slopes, open pits, and underground excavations.
• Design foundations and ground support systems for mining infrastructure, including processing plants and tailings dams.
• Develop recommendations for ground improvement techniques and risk mitigation strategies.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and specifications for construction.
• Collaborate with mine engineers and geologists to integrate geotechnical findings into mine planning.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on mining or civil infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
• Experience with site investigation techniques and laboratory testing.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
