Geotechnical Engineer - Mining

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their specialized team, with the flexibility to work remotely from Leeds, West Yorkshire or other approved locations. This role is essential for assessing ground conditions and ensuring the stability and safety of our mining operations, both underground and in open-pit environments. You will conduct critical analyses, develop mitigation strategies, and provide expert advice to project teams, playing a vital role in risk management and operational integrity. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and site assessments for mining projects.
• Perform stability analyses for open-pit slopes, underground excavations, and waste rock dumps.
• Develop recommendations for ground support, stabilization measures, and excavation methods.
• Monitor ground conditions and performance using instrumentation and field observations.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including risk assessments and mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers, geologists, and construction teams to implement geotechnical solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with a geotechnical focus.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably within the mining sector.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., FLAC, GeoStudio, Rocscience suite).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geological principles.
• Experience with ground monitoring techniques and instrumentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings clearly.
