Geotechnical Engineer - Mining

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their team supporting mining operations in Bristol . This role is crucial for assessing and managing ground stability and slope stability issues within open pit and underground mines. You will conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, analyze data, and provide engineering recommendations to ensure the safety and viability of mining excavations. This position offers the chance to work on challenging geotechnical problems and contribute directly to safe mining practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, including site characterization, field testing, and laboratory analysis.
• Perform stability analyses for open pit slopes, underground excavations, and tailings dams.
• Develop geotechnical monitoring plans and interpret monitoring data.
• Provide engineering recommendations for mine design, excavation support, and ground control measures.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and presentations on geotechnical findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate with mine planning, geological, and environmental teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into project development.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mining Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with specific experience in the mining industry.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for slope stability, seepage, and stress analysis (e.g., GeoStudio, Rocscience suite).
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Experience with geotechnical data acquisition and interpretation.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
