Geotechnical Engineer - Mining

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Geotechnical Engineer with a focus on the mining industry to join their established team in Leeds . This role is critical for assessing ground conditions, slope stability, and underground excavations to ensure the safety and integrity of mining operations. You will be responsible for conducting site investigations, performing complex analyses, and providing expert recommendations to mitigate geotechnical risks. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Perform geotechnical analyses for open pit slopes, underground excavations, and tailings dams.
• Develop recommendations for foundation design, ground support, and dewatering systems.
• Monitor ground conditions and assess the performance of geotechnical structures.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and drawings for geotechnical designs.
• Collaborate with mine planners, geologists, and construction teams to integrate geotechnical solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with a geotechnical focus.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering , preferably within mining.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, FLAC, or Rocscience suite.
• Experience with slope stability analysis and rock mechanics.
• Knowledge of drilling techniques and geotechnical instrumentation .
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data.
