About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their dynamic team based near Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to assessing ground conditions and ensuring the stability and safety of mining projects. You will be responsible for conducting site investigations, analyzing geotechnical data, and providing expert recommendations for mine design and construction. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater data to assess geotechnical risks and stability.
• Develop geotechnical designs for mine openings, slopes, and support systems.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and environmental specialists on complex projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigations and design, preferably within the mining or civil engineering sectors.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modelling (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
• Experience with ground improvement techniques and foundation design.
• Strong understanding of geological processes and their impact on engineering structures.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
