About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer with specialized experience in offshore wind projects to join their team in Leeds . This role is crucial for assessing and understanding seabed conditions to ensure the safe and efficient installation of wind turbine foundations. You will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle, from site investigation and data analysis to foundation design and risk assessment. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in a key engineering hub, working on challenging and impactful projects with a forward-thinking company.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage geotechnical site investigations, including offshore surveys and CPTs.
- Analyze and interpret geotechnical data from boreholes, lab testing, and in-situ measurements.
- Undertake detailed design of foundations for offshore wind turbines, including monopiles, jackets, and gravity bases.
- Perform stability analyses, soil-structure interaction assessments, and seismic analyses.
- Prepare technical reports, design documents, and specifications for clients and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with structural engineers, naval architects, and project teams to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project design.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering, with a Master's qualification being advantageous.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong focus on offshore wind or similar marine structures.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Plaxis, GRLWEAP, Settle3D).
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and marine geohazards.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and guidelines (e.g., DNV, IEC).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
