About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Geotechnical Engineer to spearhead geotechnical investigations and design for their expanding portfolio of offshore wind projects based out of their Birmingham office. This senior role involves overseeing all aspects of site investigation, data analysis, and foundation design, ensuring the structural integrity and cost-effectiveness of wind farm installations. You will lead a team of geotechnical specialists, collaborate with international stakeholders, and contribute to the company's ambitious renewable energy goals. This position offers a unique chance to influence the development of critical green energy infrastructure in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and interpretation of geotechnical site investigations for offshore wind farm developments.
- Oversee the design and analysis of foundations (e.g., monopiles, jackets, gravity bases) for wind turbines and substations.
- Manage geotechnical risks and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and codes of practice.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to a team of geotechnical engineers and geologists.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Review and approve geotechnical reports, design calculations, and tender documentation.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience (10+ years) in geotechnical engineering, with a strong specialization in offshore wind or similar marine environments.
- Proven ability to manage complex geotechnical projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in foundation design, soil mechanics, and numerical modeling techniques.
- Familiarity with offshore site investigation methods and equipment.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
