About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer with expertise in underground mining to join their team near Milton Keynes . This role is crucial for ensuring the stability and safety of underground mining excavations. You will conduct site investigations, analyze rock mechanics data, and provide design recommendations for support systems. Your expertise will directly impact the safety of personnel and the efficiency of mining operations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical site investigations, including data collection and analysis of rock mass properties.
- Develop numerical models to assess the stability of underground excavations and slopes.
- Design and recommend appropriate ground support systems for various mining conditions.
- Monitor ground conditions during mining operations and provide timely feedback and adjustments.
- Conduct risk assessments related to geotechnical hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and present findings to project teams and management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on underground mining applications.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., FLAC, Rocscience Suite).
- Solid understanding of rock mechanics principles and their application to mine design.
- Experience in the Milton Keynes area's geological conditions is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
